Roman Bronze Ring Perfect "CRESCENT MOON & STAR" Design
This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Thracia and dates from around 100 - 300 A.D and features a raised oval, flat bezel that has a crisp saw-tooth decoration around the rim and with a marvelously engraved motif.
The design is SUPER and is of an 8 pointed star or sun-symbol inside of a crescent moon and both of them sailing across the night sky. Sometimes these designs refer to a specific place and on some occasions they refer to a specific celestial event or a day of the year when such an event will occur which is quite exciting from an astronomical or astrological point of view. There are also a few more crescents that may have formed a "Serpent" figure right behind the Moon which is exciting because this may reference a certain time of the year when the Serpent Constellation is seen in the night sky. It may also signify a certain time of the year denoted by the number of crescents visible.
The bright golden colour and SUPER shine of this gem makes it a first class ring. This is a super collectible for anyone interested in astronomy or astrology and is the BEST example of this type of ring that we have come across in a LONG time.
